Friday Harbour Case Study
Friday Harbour is an outstanding waterfront resort located in Innisfil, Ontario. They operate year-round, proving unparallel services and amenities. The resort’s 600-acre lot contains breathtaking landscapes combined with urban activities, creating the perfect luxurious getaway.
Friday Harbour offers two areas where guests may indulge in a relaxing meal. The primary area is a formal dining room which has large windows, an impressive bar, and a custom light fixture.
The second area is a luxury pool with stunning views of the harbour and white cabanas. As the formal dining room looks out to the pool area, it was incredibly important to create a cohesive look that was unique to each location.
As the Senior Manager of Guest Services for Friday Harbour, Geoffrey Cotton said, “uniforms are incredibly important for the look and feel of Friday Harbour.” We integrated Friday Harbour’s brand colours with each garment to create an on brand and cohesive look. In the formal dining room, staff are dressed in refined shirts to adjoin the uniforms into the restaurant’s elevated atmosphere. By utilizing a light blue textured fabric for a button-down shirt, incorporating navy contrast on the front chest pocket, and adding Friday Harbour’s logo above the roll up tab sleeve, we accomplish both practicality and elegance. To pair with this elevated shirt, we selected a navy chino trouser with some subtle sheen. These trousers are comfortable and polished to ensure the staff feel as good in the uniforms as they look in them!
For the pool servers, we designed two custom leaf print shirts. The women’s shirt has a white background whereas the men’s leaf print shirt has a blue background. This adds a unique flare that is exclusive to Friday Harbour’s pool uniforms. Additionally, we designed pink chino shorts for the male pool staff and navy chino shorts for the female pool staff. This combination allows the staff to look lively and professional. The pool staff are working throughout the summer heat, so it is incredibly important that their uniforms are breathable. Comfortability for these uniforms were our top priority. By picking lightweight fabrics that can withstand constant washing, we developed a look that is both contemporary and workable.
A unique challenge we faced with Friday Harbour was working with their incredibly tight timeline. Their team came to us needing the uniforms in 6 weeks. While custom uniform projects at other companies can take months, our team at Kloth Studio worked quickly and efficiently to deliver their uniforms with extra time to spare!
