The Rabbit Hole Case Study
A new addition to Toronto’s Financial District, The Rabbit Hole is a gastro pub and dining room that explores the concept of merging British cooking with Canadian hospitality. The Rabbit Hole offers elevated pub food, exceptional cocktails, and great conversation — either outside on their lush three-level patio or inside their whimsically designed dining room.
Rooted in bold British flavours and locally sourced ingredients, their menu consists of familiar comfort classics and cheeky twists on old-fashioned pub food. As a proper British pub, they offer a robust selection of craft beers, ciders, refreshers, and wines by the glass. The Rabbit Hole also has a hand-crafted cocktail menu, featuring 40-some-odd concoctions ranging from fresh and fruity to zippy and zesty, resulting in the perfect patio sippers from afternoon to night.
Kloth Studio X The Rabbit Hole
“Kloth made our uniforms from start to finish — they helped with the process from formulating what I had in my mind to getting it into a finished product.”
– Steve Spooner (Senior Director, Restaurant Operations at Oliver & Bonacini Hospitality)
At Kloth Studio, we are committed to finding the perfect fit for each client. Through our rigorous design-driven process, we collaborated with The Rabbit Hole to incorporate their brand guidelines and company values to create custom-tailored uniforms that were well-suited for the restaurant’s elevated gastro pub atmosphere. According to The Rabbit Hole representative, Steve Spooner, “Working with Kloth was smooth from the get-go. We figure out what we wanted, talked to people, and made the idea happen. It was truly seamless.”
The Rabbit Hole had a clear vision and unique concept for their restaurant. To highlight this vision and concept, our priority was to design uniforms that integrated seamlessly with the restaurant space and overall atmosphere. As The Rabbit Hole is a British style gastro pub, we decided to merge traditional patterns with modern silhouettes to achieve a contemporary British aesthetic.
For the female server look, we used a beige houndstooth pattern fabric to create a halter neck vest with curved lapels, gold buttons, and cinched back waist details. For the corresponding male server outfit, we designed a 4-button vest using the same beige houndstooth fabric. These unique vests are paired with white dobby weave shirts with a button-down collar and contrast colour detailing in the collar and placket. To complete the look, the servers wear a dark green bistro apron with dual front pockets and brown leather pocket accents.
For the bartender uniforms, we dressed the staff in white dobby weave shirts with a button-down collar and contrast colour detailing in the collar and placket. To finish the look, the bartenders wear a dark green bib apron with adjustable neck straps and dual front pockets with brown leather pocket accents.
